ContestMachine looks awesome. I totally want to do one for my library. I’m pretty sure that there are all kinds of policies that govern what can be given as prizes and who can take part and so forth, so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do anything with this widget-making thingy, but if I get the go ahead, I’ll be sure to let you all know!
What ContestMachine appears to be is a widget that helps you conduct contests for the readers of your blog/website. You can have up to two contests a month for free - more than that, and there are charges. There are two kinds of contests - ‘drawings’ where everyone who puts their email into the box has an equal chance of winning, and ‘judged’ where people submit something to be judged by the administrators of the site. I’m think haikus or limericks, or worst first lines of books, or worst title for a book, or some such thing as that. ContestMachine keeps track of all the info that comes in, and sends out winning notifications and stuff. You can keep track of the email addresses that come in to use for your own mass mailings.

Thanks for this! I was searching for something along these lines just the other day, and couldn’t find it…super cool tool!
You’re welcome - of all the millions of widgets out there, it’s nice that some of them are actually useful, right?
